- Abstract
- Poster for mucical, by the political theatre collective Solvognen.
- Description
- This poster was created to promote a political theater group associated with the free town Christiania called Solvognen (The Sun Chariot).
Solvognen was founded in 1969 and was dissolved again in 1982 and made several political happenings and performances. One happening (my mother told me about) was the performance called "Army of Santa Clauses". One day in December 1974 Christmas an "army" dressed up as Santa Clauses appeared in high-end shopping centers and handed out gifts from the shelves to the customers. Of course they did not pay for any of the "presents" and many where arrested.
However, this poster advertise a show called "Det Hvide Slot" (The White Castle) which was set up in 1980 but I cannot find anything on the performance online. The performance was set up in "Den Grå Hal" (The Grey Hall) which is a small but nearly legendary venue in Christiania. Some of the artist who has played there are: Portishead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prodigy, Bob Dylan, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Manic Street Preachers and Faithless. - Subject
